Obituary: Stephen Elven “Steve” Anderson, 75, Cox’s Creek

Stephen Elven “Steve” Anderson, 75, of Cox’s Creek, passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2026 at his residence. He was born July 17, 1951 in Louisville to the late Leo Ransdall and Julia Hickle Anderson, Sr. Steve was a retired employee of Independent Stave and was a former volunteer firefighter for the Bardstown Fire Department. He was a family man who loved being able to care for his wife and spend time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Shewmaker, and 3 brothers, Bobby Anderson, Leo R. Anderson, Jr., and Doug Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Anderson, his daughter, Stephenie Anderson of Bardstown, 2 sons, Jeffery Aaron Anderson, Elven Todd Anderson, both of Bardstown, his sister, Rosie Smith of New Albany, IN., 4 brothers, Mike (Annette) Anderson of Elizabethtown, Vernon (Tammy) Anderson of Hodgenville, Roger Anderson of Bardstown, Donnie Anderson of Boston, 4 grandchildren, Curtis Morris (Arya Nicole Blake), Stephen (Leah) Clark, Aurora Nicole Anderson, Julia Fennetta Anderson, and 4 great grandchildren, Charles Morris, Catherine Morris, Castiel Morris, and Eden Marie Clark.

Funeral services for Mr. Stephen Elven “Steve” Anderson will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2026 at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown. Bro. Billy Cross will officiate. Interment will be in St. Gregory Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00-8 p.m. and Friday after 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
