Obituary: Susan (Kirwan) Breeding, 82, Springfield

Susan Kirwan Breeding, age 82, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026 at her home.

She was born in Louisville, on April 10, 1944 to the late Joseph Ross and Kathryn Francis Kirwan.

She was a member of the Bardstown United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Washington County Homemakers. Susan was a founding member of the Washington County Republican Women’s Club. She assisted with all aspects of the club arranging for local, state and national speakers for the meetings and was very talented in decorating and enjoyed setting up the meeting room.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Breeding; two daughters, Rachel Breeding Wharton (Kevin) of Springfield and Cindy Breeding (Laura Gonzales) of Denton, TX; a granddaughter, Isabelle McMahan; a sister, Judith K. Love (Bob) of Dunwoody, GA and a brother, Joseph Ross Kirwan (Nita) of Aurora, CO.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Bardstown United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Bradley officiating.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 Tuesday at the Carey & Son Funeral Home and after 10:45 on Wednesday at the church.
