Obituary: Thomas Aloysius Bowling, 82, Bardstown

Thomas Aloysius Bowling, 82, of Bardstown, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, at his home. He was born June 19, 1944 in Smyrna, Tenn., to the late Lawrence and Elizabeth Ann Spalding Bowling Jr.

He was a dedicated employee of CSX Railroad who retired after 33 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #12354. He was an avid fan of NASCAR as well as UK basketball and football. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James A. Bowling.

He is survived by three daughters, Melissa (Tom) Anonson of Louisville, Ellen (Romie) Euthon of Mount Pleasant, S.C. and Jenny (Jason) Slaughter of Franklin, Tenn.; his companion, Freida Sandidge; three sisters, Doris (Tony) Bullock of Shepherdsville, Linda (Donnie) Avis of Bardstown, and Mary Helen Roberts of Advance, N.C.; four brothers, Robert (Joan) Bowling, John (Gail) Bowling and Charlie Bowling, all of Bardstown, and Kenny (Rosemary) Bowling of Lawrenceburg; eight grandchildren, Sydney (Jackson) Ketchem, Jacob Anonson, James Slaughter, Caroline Slaughter, Sophia Euthon, Wesley Euthon, Jacob Sandidge and Katherine Sandidge; and one great-grandchild due in April.

The funeral is noon Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Wimsett officiating. Burial is in Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
