Obituary: Thomas ‘Freddie’ Willett, 86, Bardstown

Thomas “Freddie” Willett, 86, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, at Norton Hospital in Louisville with all his family by his side. He was born Sept. 19, 1940, in Nelson County. He was a farmer and retired employee of American Fuji Seal. He was a member of Holy Cross Church.

THOMAS “FREDDIE” WILLETT

He was a loving and devoted husband, daddy, brother, and pappaw. He loved being with his family and was always there when they needed him. He worked hard to provide for the people he loved, and he cared for them with a compassion they will never forget.

He and his wife, Mary Ann, shared 64 years of marriage and were rarely apart. The love and devotion he showed her throughout their life together meant so much to their family. His family will remember how deeply he loved them, how faithfully he cared for them, and how much it meant to know they could always count on him.

He was preceded in death by one son, Scott Willett; his parents, Albert and Gertrude Willett; one sister, Martha Smith; two brothers, Carter Willett and Duck Willett; one daughter-in-law, Pam Willett; and one granddaughter, Tasha Douglas.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Ann Willett; one daughter, Denise (David) Douglas of Greenbriar; two sons, Todd (Lynn Mattingly) Willett of Greenbriar and Keith (Rhonda) Willett of Loretto; five sisters, Carol (Jimmy) Masterson and Jeannie (Frankie) Nalley, both of Louisville, Nancy (Jim) Walters of Hodgenville, Shirley (Larry) Cooper of Lawrenceburg, and Ruthie (Larry) Forgie of Pennsylvania; three brothers, Johnny (Patsy) Willett, Wayne Willett, and Randy Willett, all of New Haven; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Loretto with the Rev. Richard Goodin officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Justin Willett, Derek Willett, Eric Willett, Brandon Willett, Dylan Douglas, Trevor Douglas, and Andrew Smith.
