Vera Marie Seely, 86, of Bardstown, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Aug. 5, 2026, at Cooper Trail Senior Living.
Born on March 3, 1940, in Herrick, Illinois, Vera was the beloved daughter of Dugal and Lucy Sarver. She graduated from Herrick High School in 1958 and married Jerry Seely, on Jan. 11, 1959. Together they shared more than 67 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Vera devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. She found joy in sewing and quilting, creating treasured gifts and memories for those she loved. Family was always at the center of Vera’s life, and she especially cherished gathering her loved ones together for holidays and special occasions. Her home was a place of warmth and hospitality where no one ever left hungry. She delighted in playing cards with her grandchildren and creating lasting memories with her family. Vera was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Bloomfield, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dugal and Lucy Sarver; her sister, Verla Sarver; and her son, Kent Seely.
Vera is survived by her husband, Jerry Seely of Bardstown, Kentucky; her daughter, Kim Witt of Bardstown, Kentucky; her brother-in-law, Clarence Sarver of Gillispie, IL; her grandchildren, Tiffany Griffith of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; Quinton (April) Witt of Bardstown, Kentucky; Duston (Michelle) Witt of Bardstown, Kentucky; Jaquina Witt of Virden, Illinois; Kolton (Merideth) Seely of Fairfield, Kentucky; Dalton (Lauryn) Seely of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; and Loren (Noah) of Shepherdsville, Kentucky. She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren: Madalyn Griffith and Zion Griffith of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; Rosaleigh Witt, Harrison Witt, and Aria Witt of Bardstown, Kentucky; Camryn Seely and Klayton Seely of Fairfield, Kentucky; and Willow Seely and Wren Seely of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; along with several beloved nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren: Madalyn Griffith and Zion Griffith of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; Rosaleigh Witt, Harrison Witt, and Aria Witt of Bardstown, Kentucky; Camryn Seely and Klayton Seely of Fairfield, Kentucky; and Willow Seely and Wren Seely of Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
Vera’s legacy of kindness, generosity, unwavering love, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown, Kentucky, on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026. Immediate family visitation will begin at 4 p.m.., followed by visitation for friends and extended family at 5 p.m.. Funeral services will begin at 5:30 p.m.. with Pastor Kurt Nelson and Pastor Tracy Waldridge officiating. Burial will be at Illinois Myers Cemetery at a later date.
