Obituary: Wanda Kay McDowell, 60, Bloomfield

Wanda Kay McDowell, 60, of Bloomfield, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at University of Louisville Hospital.

She was previously an employee of Betty Snider as a daycare worker, as well as an employee of the Bloomfield Elementary Clubhouse. In recent years, she enjoyed staying home with her granddaughter. She enjoyed doing diamond art and coloring.

She had a passion for caring for her animals which included chickens, goats, rabbits, and hummingbirds. She loved and had a heart for children and loved her family deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lily Hurtle Meyer; one brother, Jamie Meyer; one grandchild, Kinsley McDowell; and her mother and father-in-law, Earl and Mary McDowell.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Kenny McDowell of Bloomfield; one daughter, Amie McDowell of Bloomfield; one son, Brian McDowell of Bloomfield; one brother, Chuck Meyer (Joyce); one granddaughter, Macey Mcdowell; and in laws, Debbie Cottle, Earl McDowell, Timothy McDowell and Missy Cain.

The funeral was Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at Barlow Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Johnson officiating. Burial was in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
