Obituary: William W. ‘Buddy’ Ballard, 98, New Haven

William W. “Buddy” Ballard, 98, of New Haven, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at his home.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator for B and J Services. He was a volunteer at the Kentucky Railroad Museum and a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Hilda Ballard; one grandson, Willy Ballard IIII; two sisters, Josephine Bryan (Joey) and Lavon Wimsett (Joe); and two sons-in-law, Hollis Beatty and Jimmy Morris.

He is survived by five daughters, Hilda Ann Beatty, Mary Edith Ballard, Veronica Morris, Margaret Ann Berry (Rick), and Barbara Ann Ballard; two sons, William “Buster” Ballard III and Mike Ballard; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his loving companion, Bobbi Jo Carver.

The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at St. Catherine Catholic Church with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, and 8-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.

The Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
