Police investigate man claiming to be part of neighborhood watch

Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, 1 a.m. — A woman who lived on Longleaf Court called police Friday about 9 p.m. and asked them to check on a suspicious male subject  who was in the area with what appeared to be a two-way radio, claiming he was with a neighborhood watch program. An officer checked on the man and took him back to his home nearby. The radio he carried was a portable police scanner, which the officer confiscated as evidence.
