Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, 4:41 p.m. — Bardstown Police have been investigating today the theft of a number of storm drain/sewer grates from the streets of Miller Springs subdivision off KY245.

At least 14 grates were stolen, with several of them recovered at Waddell’s Auto & Scrap Metal Recycling, 159 Parrish Blvd in Bardstown. Police said their investigation has identified a person of interest, though there have been no arrests in the case at this time.

The person or persons involved in the theft sold them for scrap metal, receiving a total of $112.70. The cost to the City of Bardstown – who will have to pay to replace the grates – is so far undetermined. Police have identified at least two dates when the thefts occurred.
