Thursday, May 7, 2015 — Police are asking the public’s help in identifying a semi tractor-trailer that fled the scene of Tuesday’s rollover crash on the Bluegrass Parkway that injured a Lexington man.

According to a report from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, a 38-year-old Lexington man driving a 2004 Lexus SUV was driving east on the parkway in the left lane near the 34 exist. A semi tractor-trailer traveling eastbound next to the Lexus in the right lane crossed over into the left lane and struck the right rear of the SUV.
The SUV driver tried to avoid the accident and lost control of his vehicle, driving into the median and hitting an earthen embankment that caused it to roll over several times, coming to rest on its top in the westbound lanes of the parkway.
The semi driver did not stop and continued eastbound toward Lexington. A 2006 Ford Expedition operated by Shirley Wright of Henderson suffered damage from rocks that were dislodged by the SUV and struck her vehicle. She was not injured.
The SUV driver was extricated from his vehicle by the Northeast Nelson Fire Department. Reports from the scene said the man’s arm was pinned beneath his upside-down vehicle. He was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville with multiple injuries.
Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the flat-bed semi tractor-trailer that was involved in this accident. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident should contact the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office (502) 348-1840.
