Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, 1:45 p.m. — Another Republican seeking a seat on Nelson Fiscal Court has filed his candidacy paperwork at the Nelson County Clerk’s office.
David L. Reed, of New Hope, filed for magistrate of the county’s 1st District Thursday. The district covers most of the southern part of Nelson County. Reed isn’t the first Republican to file for District 1 magistrate in recent history; Stephen Howard of New Haven ran as a Republican four years ago. If no other Republican files for the seat, Reed will go on to face the Democratic nominee in the November election.
The incumbent, Democrat Keith Metcalfe, filed his paperwork to run for office on Nov. 7, 2013.
The deadline for the May primary is 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28.
