Richard Lee “Dick” Owens, 86, of Bardstown, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born 
May 8, 1926, in Cuba, Ill., and was a retired firefighter in Philadelphia, Penn. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II where he served on the USS Cincinnati. He was a member of American Legion post No. 121, the International Association Firefighters, and Botland Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Owens; his parents, Ethel Mae and George W. Owens; four sisters, Mildred Parkinson, Leona Krider, Vivian Konley, and Laveta Williams; and one brother, Glenn Owens.
He is survived by his son, George W. Owens of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; one brother, James Leroy Owens of Canton, Ill.; two grandchildren, Christopher Lee Owens and Matthew Owens of Ocean City, N.J.; his niece and caregiver, Hilda Driskell of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen with no services.
Memorial contributions may go to Botland Christian Church or the Bardstown Fire Department.
