
Monday, April 28, 2014, 12:30 a.m. — The storms that rolled through Nelson County Sunday night brought with them high winds and lightning, and prompted the National Weather Service to issue two Severe Thunderstorm warnings for the county.
The storms intensity peaked as approached Bardstown from the south. According to the National Weather Service, the high winds caused damage in the Maple Hill neighborhood, downing trees on South Kennett Ave., Barton Road and Edelen Avenue.
The first warning was issued at 7:31 Sunday evening, with the first wind damage reported about 10 minutes later. As the storm moved north, a second severe thunderstorm warning was issued at about 8 p.m.
