Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 — The victim of Friday afternoon’s fatal crash on Stiles Road has been identified as Sammie Chesser, 45, of Springfield.
The accident was initially reported at about 1:14 p.m. Friday as a single-vehicle crash, but investigators determined there were two vehicles involved in the accident.
According to a press release from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, police determined that the pickup truck Chesser was operating was heading west on Stiles Road when it collided with a pickup truck that was pulling out of a private driveway. Chesser’s truck left the roadway and struck a tree.
The operating of the other truck was identified as Dennis Edlin of New Hope, who was uninjured in the crash.
The sheriff’s deputies were assisted by Nelson County EMS, the New Hope Fire Department, Rolling Fork Fire Department and the Raywick Fire Department. The sheriff’s office and New Haven Police Chief Kenny Holbert investigated the accident.
