Three injured in Monday afternoon Blue Grass Parkway rollover crash

STAFF REPORT

icy_roads_308x231_mediumTuesday, March 4, 2014, 1 a.m. — Hazardous road conditions were a factor in a single-vehicle rollover accident that injured three people Monday afternoon.

At about 3 p.m., Nelson County EMS and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Blue Grass Parkway’s 14 mile marker for a report of an overturned vehicle. Police found that a 2007 Ford with out-of-state license plates left the parkway’s eastbound lanes and overturned.

The male driver of the vehicle, described as a man in his 50s, complained of left shoulder pain, back and neck pain and stomach pain. His first passenger, a 41-year-old man, complained of neck and back pain. Another passenger, a 30-year-old man, was laying down in the back seat without a seat when the accident occurred. He complained of a headache and chest pain.

The three men were taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Hazardous road conditions contributed to a number of minor accidents across Nelson County, including an off-duty Paris, Kentucky officer whose Impala hit a slick spot and skidded off the roadway and a vehicle that struck a light pole in the Bardstown Country Club parking lot.

Additionally, one person was injured Monday evening at about 6:14 p.m. when a Ford Focus struck a utility pole at W. John Rowan Boulevard and Chambers Boulevard.  The 27-year-old driver was taken to Flaget complaining of left leg pain.
