Tower receives tax incentives to open Shepherdsville stamping plant

STAFF REPORT

towerThursday, March 27, 2014, 4 p.m. — Kentucky economic development officials have approved $2 million in tax incentives for Tower Automotive Operations USA to establish a new metal stamping and subassembly facility in Shepherdsville.

The expansion would create up to 78 jobs earning $25 an hour, including benefits. The new facility would allow Tower to have more space for stamping and welding subassemblies for sport utility vehicles.

The new facility represents a $36.4 million investment over the course of the next 15 years.

Tower Automotive Operations is a division of Livonia, Mich.-based Tower International, the parent company of Tower International Bardstown. The local Tower stamping plant on Withrow Court was established in 1994 and employs approximately 550 people.
