Traffic stop leads to arrest of two Bardstown men on drug, theft charges

Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, 2 p.m. — Two Bardstown men were arrested Wednesday morning following a traffic stop by Bardstown Police after the SUV they were in ran a traffic light.

At 11:05 p.m. Officer Dalton Pinkston stopped the men in a black Chevrolet Avalanche near the Wee Care Tiny Treasures day care, 702 Bloomfield Road. Pinkston who was assisted by Officer Reece Riley and Nelson County Sheriff Deputy A.J. Lewis.

Officer obtained consent to search the vehicle, which turned up numerous items police believed were stolen, including two handguns reported stolen Tuesday morning from a home on Bennelli Drive.

Officers also located and seized $1400 in cash, multiple medications, narcotics, drug paraphernalia, suspected heroin and video games.

Driver Joshua Reishaun Downs, 34, was charged with disregarding a traffic control device; possession of drug paraphernalia; trafficking a controlled substance (heroin); possession of a controlled substance (heroin); possession of a controlled substance, first-degree, drug unspecified; possession of a controlled substance, third-degree; and possession of a prescription drug not in proper container.

Down’s passenger, David Lee Con, 27, was and charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon (2 counts) and receiving stolen property under $10,000.

He also had five outstanding arrest warrants on charges that included trafficking a controlled substance (heroin).

Both men were arrested and lodged in the Nelson County Jail. The vehicle was seized and impounded following the arrests.
