Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, 10:43 p.m. — Two people were injured in a crash Friday night about 9:30 near the “Y” intersection south of Bloomfield where US 62 and KY 55 meet. The crash, involving a van and an SUV, closed US 62 for about an hour while members of the Northeast Nelson Fire Department and Nelson County EMS worked to rescue the victims.
The most critically injured was a 31-year-old woman who suffered a possible broken leg, an ankle injury and possible internal injuries. EMS transported her to the park and ride lot off KY 55 at the Bluegrass Parkway where the ambulance was met by a medical helicopter. The victim was flown directly to University Hospital for treatment of her injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was transported by EMS from the scene to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment. The accident was reported at about 9:30 Friday night. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour. The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated.
