Thursday, July 21, 2011, 11:52 p.m. — A 7-year-old boy suffered minor injury when he was hit by a car as he was walking out of the Nelson County Fair Thursday night about 11:30 p.m. The mud run event was just winding down at the time of the accident.
The boy was hit by a Nissan Altima traveling approximately 40-45 mph. He told EMTs that the car hit his foot and threw him off the roadway into the ditch. Nelson County EMS had an ambulance and crew stationed on standby at the fairgrounds for the fair events, and the crew quickly attended to the victim. He was complaining of left foot pain. He was taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment.
