Ham radio club meeting Aug. 10, 26; conducts on-air training nets

Sunday, July 26, 2015 — The Bardstown-based Kentucky Amateur Radio Society (KARS) will hold its next meeting 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at the main Nelson County EMS Station 1 on Buchanan karslogolowresBoulevard off Bloomfield Road. All amateur radio operators and anyone interested in learning about amateur radio is encouraged to attend. The club’s second August meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015 at the same location.

KARS conducts an on-the-air general interest net on the Bardstown 2-meter repeater, 145.47 MHz with a tone of 151.4) at 9 p.m. Sundays. The club also has a Weather Training Net at 8 p.m. every Tuesday night on the same frequency. All licensed ham operators are invited to participate.

All ham radio operators and those interested in learning about ham radio is encouraged to attend. There is no longer a requirement for Morse Code in order to obtain a ham radio license. For more information, visit the club’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/kb4ky.
