Federal retirees learn about Kentucky Heartland’s programs at June meeting

Milissa Miller French explains Kentucky Heartland’s food programs at the June NARFE meeting.

Friday, June 16, 2017 — During the June 5, 2017 meeting of Chapter 1050 of The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), Milissa Miller French spoke to the chapter about Kentucky Heartland which is a regional “Feeding America” food bank that distributes over 12.5 million meals each year to 42 counties in central, south central and western Kentucky.

French also outlined their backpack program which meets the needs of hungry children on weekends and school vacation in 35 counties. Also discussed is their Volunteer Center located at 300 Peterson Drive and the various opportunities for individuals and civic or church groups to assist Kentucky Heartland in their mission.
