Obituary: Georgetta Earlena Harris-Holloway, 55

Georgetta Earlena Harris-Holloway, 55, died Friday, June 15, 2018, at Baptist Health Louisville in Louisville. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on April 16, 1963, to George Harris Sr. and Essie Ealy. She graduated from Marion-Franklin High School and Kent State University. She worked for Humana. She was was very active in her church. She sang in the Pastor’s Choir, worked with the Sunday School, Women’s Ministry and Vacation Bible School. She was a diehard fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. She loved the Buckeyes, but she loved Jesus more.

She was united in holy matrimony to Dr. Calvin R. Holloway. During this 23-year union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized and a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio, under Pastor Keith Troy. She was also the First Lady of Second Baptist Church, Fairfield.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Calvin Holloway, pastor of Second Baptist Church of Fairfield; two daughters, Khristian Holloway and Kearra Holloway, both of Louisville; her parents, Essie M. Ealy of Columbus, Ohio and George E. Harris of Louisville; five sisters, Marichal Armstead, Ruth Ealy, Denise (Kevin) Taylor, Michelle Edwards, all of Columbus, Ohio, and Nancy Harris of Indianapolis; one brother, Kevin E. Ealy from Columbus, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Irwin (Crystal) Holloway of St. Mary, Ga., and Vincent (Tammy) Holloway of Wildwood, Fla.; two uncles, Zelma Harris of Madisonville and Jewel (Jennie) Harris of Gary, Ind.; one aunt, Deloris Harris of Gary, Ind.; and a host of friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The homegoing service is noon Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown, 10600 Watterson Trail, Louisville, with the Rev. William H. Johnson and the Rev. Kevin Nelson officiating. Burial is in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Fairfield Second Baptist Church, 389 Little Union Road, and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 23, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown, 10600 Watterson Trail, Louisville,

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Fairfield Second Baptist Church or Georgetta Holloway Scholarship Fund in care of the Fairfield Second Baptist Church.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
