Bardstown Fire Dept. called to reported power transformer fire

Saturday, April 9, 2011, 12:30 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called to the intersection of US150, Springfield Road and the KY 245 bypass for a report of a power transformer on fire. Dispatch reports several calls, with one caller specifying a transformer on fire near the entrance to the Maywood subdivision.

12:39 p.m. — Incident commander reports that power is out in the area of Parkway Drive, but has no located the transformer fire. City utilities are being advised.

12:42 p.m. — Firefighters locate a utility pole on Manor Avenue that was struck by lightning. There is no fire, but a broken wire is loose. Salt River Electric has been advised.

1:06 p.m. — Firefighters report there is no hazard at the site and are leaving the scene.
