Friday, July 27, 2012, 10:50 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called at 10:04 p.m. Friday night to the 1000 block of Caney Fork Road for a tree on fire near a home. Firefighters arrived to find there was no fire, but a power transformer serving the home had exploded. Dispatchers contacted Salt River Electric and reported the problem. Firefighters were on scene for about 35 minutes.
