Carriage driver injured in accident with motor vehicle near Keene’s

Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, 11:35 p.m. — A 74-year-old man driving the Around the Town Carriage was injured when the carriage was struck from the rear about 11 p.m. Saturday. Bardstown Police and EMS were called the accident scene, which occurred on East Stephen Foster at Bloomfield Pike, near Keene’s Depot. The horse pulling the carriage broke loose and was captured soon after the accident at the corner of South Third Street and John Fitch. The driver of the carriage was thrown from the vehicle when it was hit from the rear. EMS took the man to Flaget Memorial Hospital complaining of back and hip pain. Another person in the accident refused transport by EMS.  Bardstown Police investigated the accident.
