Firefighters called to investigate Preakness Drive lightning strike

Wednesday, July 18, 2012, 11:58 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called to the 300 block of Preakness Drive off Louisville Road for a home that was hit by a lightning strike from thunderstorms that passed through the county Wednesday about 9 p.m. The callers said they smelled smoke but saw no smoke or fire. Firefighters confirmed the home was struck by lightning and investigated possible damage or fire in the attic. Other than damage to some drywall in the home, firefighters found no other problems. Firefighters left the area at 9:56 p.m.

Firefighters also responded to the 5600 block of Louisville Road for an active residential fire alarm that turned out to be a false alarm. That call came in at 10:10 p.m.
