Wednesday, July 2, 2014, 4:30 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called Wednesday afternoon to a report of smoke in a home in the 100 block of McGowan Avenue. Firefighters responded to the call at 3:35 p.m. and found the source of the smoke was smoldering mulch in outdoor landscaping. The fire was extinguished and firefighters left the scene after about 15 minutes.
