Man tries to set him self on fire after altercation with his mother

Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, 9:30 p.m. — A suicidal man tried to set himself ablaze on the front porch of his Grant Avenue residence Saturday evening following a physical altercation with his mother. Bardstown Police and Nelson County EMS were dispatched to the scene at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The victim’s mother extinguished the fire and police stayed with the victim until EMS arrived. EMS transported the man non-emergency to Flaget Memorial Hospital with minor first-degree burns to his hands and legs.
