New Hope firefighters respond to house fire reported in Melody Lake

Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, 11:09 p.m. — The New Hope Fire Department was called to respond to a reported house fire at  145 Pinetree Drive in the Melody Lake area. A deputy sheriff was also dispatched to the area. Nelson County Dispatch confirmed the initial report after receiving a call from a neighbor. Manpower and water tankers were requested from the Rolling Fork Fire Department, which sent a tanker, a pumper and 5 firefighters. Firefighters from the Raywick Fire Department also assisted. Nelson County EMS also responded to a request for an ambulance for standby. The American Red Cross responded to assist the family with housing needs.
