Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, 2 a.m. — The Northeast Nelson Fire Department was called to Cornish Lane for a structure fire. A passing deputy sheriff saw the unattached garage on fire and alerted Nelson County Dispatch. Firefighters were dispatched at about 1:40 Sunday morning. The homeowner and the deputy had most of the fire extinguished by the time firefighters arrived. Using thermal imaging cameras, the firefighters examined the structure for hidden hot spots. The fire was reported about 1:40 a.m.
