Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, 2:49 a.m. — The Northeast Nelson Fire Department responded about 2:45 a.m. Thursday to a reported house fire at 39 Church St. in Chaplin. A Northeast Nelson firefighter reported seeing flames from the home from his house. Nelson County EMS dispatched an ambulance for standby at the fire scene.
2:53 a.m. — First firefighter on scene reports the two-story residence has flames showing at the rear of the home. The home appears to be unoccupied.
3:13 a.m. — Electric utility representative requested to disconnect power to the home; firefighter warns that the power line is down on the ground and a possible safety hazard.
