Joseph Carl Thomas, 78, of Manton, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. He was born July 10, 1940, in Holy Cross. He was a retired farmer and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Manton.


He was preceded in death by parents, James Leman and Mary Ann Downs Thomas; one infant sister, Edna Mae Thomas; and one brother, James Dallas “J.D.” Thomas.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Ann Bartley Thomas; two daughters, Sharon Hill (Martin) of Bardstown and Lee Thomas (Frankie Carey) of Covington; two sons, Scott Thomas (Pam) of Cox’s Creek and Brian Thomas (Gwen Coulter) of Springfield; one sister, Mary Ann Buckalew of Covington, Ga.; one niece, Brandi Pelphrey of Dacula, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Morgan Hill, Austin Hill, Brooke Brown, Caitlin Thomas, Gerrit Thomas, Haley Devine, Brittany Reid and Landon Thomas; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral was 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, with burial in the church cemetery.
The Mattingly Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
