Mary Roby Shields, 89, formerly of Bardstown, died Thursday, May 28, 2015, in Lake Providence, La. She was born on July 1, 1925, in 
Bardstown to the late Charles Woodson and Emily Spalding Roby. She was a graduate of Bethlehem Academy as well as St. Catharine College. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Altar Society and a former teacher at St. Patrick Catholic School. Much of her time was spent taking care of her husband and five children. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Sister Catherine Roby.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Thomas H. Shields of Lake Providence, La., ; one daughter, Kitty Shields of Houston; four sons, Tommy Shields (Karen) of Iowa, La., Roby Shields (Lee) of Baton Rouge, La., Harry Shields (Jere) of Thibodaux, La., and Ted Shields of Bardstown; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The graveside service is 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at the Bardstown Cemetery with Deacon Arnold Downs officiating.
