
Raymond L. Allender, 76, of Bardstown, died Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 22, 1940, in Nelson County, retired as a hot-line foreman for Salt River Electric. He was also a meat cutter for Kroger and a truck driver for Bardstown Mills. He was an avid golfer and fisherman who loved gardening and landscaping. He loved cruises and spending winters in Florida. He was a dedicated UK fan, and a member of Duvall Masonic Lodge # 6, and Cox’s Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Mildred Allender; and one brother, William Allender.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine Livers Allender of Bardstown; two sons, Stephen Ray (Barb) Allender of Bardstown and Kenneth Dale (Stephanie) Allender of Sellersburg, Ind.; one sister, Sandy Allender (Jerry) Livers of Cox’s Creek; one brother, Donnie (Pat) Allender of Bardstown; four grandchildren, Zach Allender, Nicole Allender, Mitchell Allender, and Kennedy Allender; two great-grandchildren, Payton Hargis, and Eli Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with the Rev. Peter Do officiating with cremation to follow.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2017, and 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
A private graveside service will held at St. Gregory Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may go to American Diabetes Association or St. Gregory Catholic Church.
