Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, 12:55 a.m. — Officers from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that people were drag racing at the Manton Bridge. According to dispatchers, there were approximately 30 cars at the bridge on Manton Road. A Washington County deputy arrived at the bridge to assist the Nelson County deputy in dispersing the crowd. According to the Nelson County officer, there were more than 50 cars at the bridge. The officers waited until they left the area.
