Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, 11 p.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and Bardstown Police responded at about 1:10 Saturday morning to reports of a loud noise, possibly a gun or fireworks, in the area of the 100 block of Hill Street and also Jefferson Avenue. Police checked the areas and were unable to find a source for the noise.
A number of Gazette readers who live in the area reported hearing noise and also heard sirens soon afterward. A Nelson County EMS squad was dispatched to a medical emergency at the American Greetings plant on American Drive prior to the noise reports, and transported a patient through the area enroute to Flaget Memorial Hospital not long after the noise was reported.
