Sunday, July 29, 2012, 3:15 a.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a sexual assault that took place early Sunday morning in the area of New Haven Road and Ritchie Lane. At about 2:40 a.m., a woman called Nelson County Dispatch to report she was assaulted after she pulled her car off New Haven Road near Ritchie Lane. While she was stopped, a man pulled up in a vehicle behind her vehicle and raped her. The woman said the man was driving a small dark-colored four-door car, possibly a Nissan. The victim told police she had the assailant’s license plate on her cell phone. The perpetrator was described as a man in his 30s. At press time the sheriff’s office was and the Bardstown Police Department were investigating.
