Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, 10:30 a.m. — A Bardstown woman was arrested on drug-related charges Thursday following a routine traffic stop on North Second Street.
According to a press release, Bardstown Police Officer Kyler Wright stopped a 2001 Mitsubishi passenger car at 12:39 p.m. Thursday after noticing the driver was not wearing a seat belt. The two occupants in the car appeared nervous, and the driver refused Wright’s request to search the vehicle. When Wright deployed his K-9, the dog indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle.
The passenger in the car, Billie J. Aldridge, 44, had active arrest warrants and she was taken into custody. A search of her belongings turned up a small container of what police believe is methamphetamine, several loose pills, marijuana, a plastic wrapper container a rock-like controlled substance, and a small amount of cash.
Aldridge was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine); possession of a controlled substance, third-degree; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; contempt of court; non-payment of fines and parole violation for a felony offense. She was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
The driver of the car, Brittny B. Sharpe, 19, of Shepherdsville, was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon.
