As is the usual practice, Nelson County Dispatch alerts first-responders when a weather warning is issued. During its alert for first-responders, dispatchers noted the siren system had been activated and to ignore the sirens. The system typically is sounded for tornado warnings.
The Nelson County Gazette received a number of phone calls from county residents concerned for their safety on hearing the sirens activate.
There has been no tornado watch or warning issued for Monday, though the National Weather Service in Louisville advises a 40 percent chance of more showers and thunderstorms tonight through Tuesday.
