Woman suffers serious injuries after car hits tree in Bloomfield

Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, 3:36 p.m. — A 22-year-old woman suffered severe injuries Monday afternoon when her 2000 Nissan struck a tree at high speed near the intersection of Mitchell Road and Conley Avenue in Bloomfield. Police, EMS and the Northeast Nelson Fire Department were called out at about 2:40 Monday afternoon for the single-vehicle crash that trapped the victim in her car. The victim was not wearing a seat belt. While firefighters worked to free the victim, EMS requested a medical helicopter, which landed behind the old Eli Brown school in Bloomfield to meet EMS and fly the victim to University Hospital. The victim suffered a open compound facture of the right leg and cuts to the left leg.
