Monday, May 1, 2017 — The theme for the Bardstown Community Chamber Orchestra Spring Concert is “from classics…to the movies.”
The concert is 5 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 211 North Third St. in Bardstown.

One of the movie themes is an arrangement by Hobart N. Humphrey IV of a 1931 composition. Humphrey serves as the pianist/organist for the Orchestra.
Other movie themes cover the period from the late 1970’s to the mid 1990’s with compositions from composers such as John Williams, Alan Silvestri, and Jerry Goldsmith. .
“We are hopeful that the early evening time on the Saturday before Mother’s Day will allow concert-goers an opportunity to enjoy live music and then have dinner at one of the local restaurants, conductor Anne Thompson Lusk said. “The month of May is a very busy month with pre-Derby and Derby events, Mother’s Day, and end of year school activities.”
The organization was founded in the fall of 2014.
There is no admission charge, though donations are welcomed and applied toward acquiring future musical selections.
