Obituary: Harry C. Brown, 90, Bardstown

Harry C. Brown, 90, of Bardstown, died Friday, April 3, 2015 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 11, 1924, in Cox’s Creek to the late Grover Cleveland and Louise McGruder Brown. He was a funeral_flowergraduate of St. Joe Preparatory School where he was the class valedictorian. He attended the University of Dayton and Boston University. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II in Belgium, France, and Germany. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years and enjoyed farming. He was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was truly loved by his family and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William Thomas Brown and Phillip Leon Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Ann “Bonnie” Faulkner Brown; four daughters, Debra Barlow, Susan (Phil) Moore, Cathy Hammond and Mary Beth (Rick) Roy; one son, Thomas H. (Jeri) Brown; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Gregory Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Eve officiating. Burial is in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015, and 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday April 7, 2015, at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of choice.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
