Obituary: Hazel Arlene Tharp, 67, Bardstown

Hazel Arlene Tharp, 67, of Bardstown, died Friday, April 3, 2015, at her home. She was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Bardstown to the late Roy Lee and Fronie Mae Nalley Durbin Sr. She was a 1965 graduate of Old Kentucky Home High School, a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Richard Louis Tharp; and two brothers, Roy Lee Durbin Jr., and Vernon Leslie Durbin.

She is survived by one daughter, Tammy (Stevie) Newton of Bardstown; one son, Ricky (Kathy) Tharp of London; one sister, Alice Humphrey of Elizabethtown; four brothers, Marion Durbin of Bardstown, Roger Durbin of Ocala, Fla., Carlos Durbin of Boston and Bernard (Shirley) Durbin of South Carolina; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griggs and her nephew, Mark Durbin officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 and noon-8 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2015, and 8:30-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
