Margaret Evelyn Masterson Smith, 92, of Connersville, Ind., died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born Jan. 28, 1923, in New Hope. She was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Connersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Smith Sr.; one daughter, Sharon Harke; her parents, Albert Ignatius “Nace” Masterson and Mary Lilly Masterson; five sisters, Rosine Greenwell, Nancy McCauley, Bertha Masterson, Cecelia Cissell, and Sister Matilda Masterson; and five brothers, John, George, Robert, Jim, and Joseph “Boot” Masterson; one grandson, Michael Harke; and one granddaughter, Emma Hootselle.
She is survived by four daughters, Nancy Ellen Smith Masterson of Louisville, Barbara Boroughs of Cincinnati, Patti (Tom) Alger of Marietta, Ga., and Dianne Smith Masterson of Tampa, Fla.; three sons, Chet “Bud” (Janet) Smith Jr. of Pittsboro, Ind., Robert (Kathy) Smith of Buffalo, Wy., and Keith Smith of Indianapolis; one sister, Anna Lee Greenwell of Bardstown; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Memorial Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, with visitation to follow Mass. The Rev. Paul Eve will officiate. Cremation was chosen with no burial.
