Mary Gertrude Mudd Blanford, 88, of Bardstown, died Sunday, June 14, 2015, at her residence. She was born April 26, 1927, in Springfield. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.


She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hillman “Fuzzy” Blanford; her parents, Mary and Colonel Everett Mudd; two sisters, Frances Hamilton and Betty Ann Barber; three brothers, Sidney Mudd, Everett Mudd Jr., and Forrest Mudd; one grandson, Joseph Michael Bleemel; and one great-grandson, Owen Michael Strange.
She is survived by four children, Frances Kateri “Teri” Edelen, Patrick Everett “Pat” (Vivian) Blanford, Hillman Jerome “Jerry” Blanford, and Mary Dianne (Mike) Bleemel, all of Bardstown; four sisters, Josephine Adams of Louisville, Waseka Luckett of Bardstown, Juanita Reed of Springfield, and Mary Alice Higdon of Lebanon; one brother, Arvie Mudd of Harrodsburg; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass is 1 p.m Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Bill Hammer officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2015, and 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Barlow Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 pm Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may go to Philippine Fund.
