Richard Preston Jeffiers, 84, of Taylorsville, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Crestview Healthcare and Rehab in Shelbyville. He was born Nov. 13, 1941 in Taylorsville to the late R.B. and Gladys Mae Hill Jeffiers. Preston was born and raised on a dairy farm in Spencer County and spent his entire life farming. He raised beef cattle, hay, tobacco and many other crops. He was the former Vice President of Preiser Scientific and was a retired Olympus Microscopes sales representative for the state of Kentucky. Preston was also a member of Taylorsville Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Timothy Phelps.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sokeland Jeffiers, his son, Steven Preston (Karen) Jeffiers of Nashville, TN., 2 daughters, Larissa Lynn Phelps of Rising Sun, IN., Susanne Dawn (Clint) Krause of Taylorsville, 2 brothers, Randall (Elizabeth) Jeffiers of Taylorsville, David (Margaret) Jeffiers of Versailles, his sister, Sarah (Norbert) Metcalf of Fairdale, 8 grandchildren, Rosa Jeffiers, Case Jeffiers, Greer Jeffiers, Lucinda and Zachary Brokaw, Grantland Phelps, Nathaniel Brokaw, William Krause, and 1 great grandchild due in November.
Funeral services for Mr. Richard Preston Jeffiers will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026 at the Taylorsville United Methodist Church. Pastor Marvin Singh and Robert Black will officiate. Interment will be in Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home in Taylorsville on Monday from 5:00-8 p.m. Additional visitation will be at Taylorsville United Methodist Church on Tuesday after 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Taylorsville United Methodist Church.
