Friday, June 15, 2018 — Some of the residents in the area around the Woodlawn Springs Golf Course are asking Nelson Fiscal Court to consider the purchase of the golf course.
In a petition that is current circulating among Woodlawn Springs residents, the argument is made that because the golf course property is near the northern entrance of Dean Watts Park, the 152-acre property would make a good addition to the existing recreational park property.
The golf course could become a nature preserve; the joggings could be used as walking paths, and the existing clubhouse could be used for civic gatherings or nature eduction programs.
No formal proposal has been presented yet to Nelson Fiscal Court regarding the petition.
