Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026 — While construction on the Bardstown-Nelson County Veteran’s Park is in its final phase, the park committee has announced that the park will be open next Wednesday in honor of Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11th.

Due to the ongoing construction, no formal program has been planned. However, if a group or organization would like to sponsor a Veterans Day program at the park this year, please call (502) 507-3386.

More than 7,600 veterans will be honored on seven-foot black granite monuments at the park. The bases for these monuments are now being set in place. More than 700 commemorative bricks ordered have been placed, with the engraving of these bricks currently underway.

The community response has been tremendous; with that support comes a responsibility to complete the park carefully, properly and in a way that honors every veteran who is represented there.

The park committee appreciates the community’s patience, generosity and continued support.
