Campbellsville funeral home director indicted for defrauding more than a dozen families

Friday, June 19, 2026 — A Campbellsville funeral home director was indicted Thursday on felony charges related to defrauding more than a dozen families in relation to prepaid funeral services.

Donald Auberry, 53, of Campbellsville, was indicted by a Taylor County Grand jury on 13 counts of Violation of Trust Provisions/Pre Need Payments for funeral services.

According to the indictment, between July 2021 and April 2025, Auberry defrauded families who paid for his funeral services. The alleged abuses happened at least 13 times.

Auberry is funeral director at Auberry Funeral Home and Cremation Services located at 503 East Main St. in Campbellsville.

The charges in the indictment are a Class C felony, punishable by five to 10 years in prison and potential fines of up to $10,000.

The Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations investigated the case. The Commonwealth’s Attorney Office for the 11th Judicial Circuit presented the case to the Grand Jury on behalf of the Commonwealth.

Auberry was booked into the Taylor County Jail prior to being released on $2,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2026 in Taylor Circuit Court.

The charges in an indictment are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
