Nelson Circuit Court Indictments — May 20, 2026

Nelson County Circuit Court indictments are compiled from public records of the Nelson County Circuit Court. 26-CR-163. Kenneth W. Mudd, 45, Louisville.

  • Flagrant non-support, Class D felony

According to the indictment, between April 11, 2023, and April 30, 2026, Mudd allegedly failed to pay child support, accruing $11,440 in arrearages.

Bond was set at $5,000 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-165. Anna Vanessa Edelen, 39, Springfield.

  • First-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), Class D felony
  • Second-degree possession of controlled substance (barbiturate), Class A misdemeanor
  • Second-degree possession of controlled substance (hallucinogen), Class A misdemeanor
  • Drug paraphernalia — buy/possess, Class A misdemeanor
  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense, Class B misdemeanor
  • Criminal trespassing, third degree (2 counts), violation
  • Possession of open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle, violation

According to the indictment, on or about March 4, 2026, Edelen allegedly had methamphetamine, a barbiturate, and psilocybin in her possession, along with drug paraphernalia including glass pipes, rolling papers, butane torches, and cut straws. She also allegedly drove while under the influence of alcohol, entered private property without authorization on two occasions, and had an open alcoholic beverage container in her vehicle.

Bond was set at $5,000 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-167. Tamika Mitchell, 45, Raywick.

  • First-degree promoting contraband, Class D felony

According to the indictment, on March 1, 2026, Mitchell allegedly smuggled a glass pipe containing suspected methamphetamine into the Nelson County Detention Center.

Bond was set at $5,000 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-169. Catherine Diane Culver Borders, 62, Bardstown.

  • Second-degree forgery (complicity), Class D felony
  • First-degree persistent felony offender

According to the indictment, on or about April 1, 2016, Borders allegedly, acting in concert with John Wayne Culver and Charles Oehler, forged a deed, will, or other legal document with intent to defraud, deceive, or injure another. The indictment cites Borders’ prior felony convictions as the basis for the first-degree persistent felony offender charge.

Bond was set at $9,500 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-171. John Wayne Culver, 50, Bardstown.

  • Second-degree forgery (complicity), Class D felony

According to the indictment, on or about April 1, 2016, Culver allegedly, acting in concert with Catherine Diane Culver Borders and Charles Oehler, forged a deed, will, or other legal document with intent to defraud, deceive, or injure another.

Bond was set at $5,000 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-173. Charles Oehler, 61, Springfield.

  • Second-degree forgery (complicity), Class D felony
  • First-degree persistent felony offender

According to the indictment, on or about April 1, 2016, Oehler allegedly, acting in concert with John Wayne Culver and Catherine Diane Culver Borders, forged a deed, will, or other legal document with intent to defraud, deceive, or injure another. The indictment cites Oehler’s prior felony convictions as the basis for the first-degree persistent felony offender charge.

Bond was set at $9,500 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-164. Ronald Nally, 48, Bardstown.

  • First-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) (third or greater offense), Class D felony
  • Drug paraphernalia — buy/possess, Class A misdemeanor

According to the indictment, on or about Feb. 17, 2026, Nally allegedly had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, including an orange pill bottle and a dollar bill containing methamphetamine.

Bond was set at $5,000 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-166. Russell Dale Cannell, 51, Rosebud, Mo.

  • Flagrant non-support, Class D felony

According to the indictment, between Feb. 19, 2009, and April 30, 2026, Cannell allegedly failed to pay child support, accruing $41,229.87 in arrearages.

Bond was set at $5,000 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-168. Maurice A. Shacklette, 39, Louisville.

  • Flagrant non-support, Class D felony
  • First-degree persistent felony offender

According to the indictment, between May 1, 2020, and March 31, 2026, Shacklette allegedly failed to pay child support, accruing $15,231.68 in arrearages. The indictment cites Shacklette’s prior felony convictions as the basis for the first-degree persistent felony offender charge.

Bond was set at $9,500 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-170. Matthew Steven Simpson, 39, Bloomfield.

  • Flagrant non-support, Class D felony
  • First-degree persistent felony offender

According to the indictment, between June 1, 2016, and April 30, 2026, Simpson allegedly failed to pay child support, accruing $8,579.42 in arrearages. The indictment cites Simpson’s prior felony convictions as the basis for the first-degree persistent felony offender charge.

26-CR-172. Matthew Steven Simpson, 39, Bloomfield.

According to the indictment, between Aug. 1, 2018, and April 30, 2026, Simpson allegedly failed to pay child support, accruing $17,726.15 in arrearages. The indictment cites Simpson’s prior felony convictions as the basis for the first-degree persistent felony offender charge.

Bond was set at $9,500 cash, plus conditions. Arraignment set for June 4, 2026, in Nelson County Circuit Court.

26-CR-174. Matthew Steven Simpson, 39, Bloomfield.

According to the indictment, between Aug. 25, 2015, and April 30, 2026, Simpson allegedly failed to pay child support, accruing $27,218.43 in arrearages. The indictment cites Simpson’s prior felony convictions as the basis for the first-degree persistent felony offender charge.
